How About Napa? Just an hour North of our favorite LGBT friendly city, San Francisco it's the perfect cure for your post election blues. Actually, it's the perfect LGBT getaway anytime! Last January my wife and I got to spend a few nights at the incredible Carneros Resort & Spa. We rode bikes, went wine tasting, brewery hopping and dined at the most incredible restaurants.
Carneros Resort & Spa: a gorgeous Napa Valley retreat that practically invented romance. With three restaurants, complimentary bikes and a market on site you won't have to leave the resort, which might be a tempting option once you see your cottage.
Each room is a beautifully designed Napa Valley cottage, all with a gas fireplace, heated slate bathroom floors and a generous amount of private outdoor living space. The outside living area has a wood burning fireplace, soaking tub or Jacuzzi, heat lamps and an indoor/outdoor Bose speaker system. Once you're settled in, it's very difficult to leave.
The Hilltop pool boasts sweeping views of the vineyards, and is adults-only. A separate pool exists for families and fitness. The state-of-the-art gym has strength, cardio, and Pilates equipment. Complimentary weekend fitness classes are also offered.
FARM Restaurant is the resort's fine-dining dinner destination; Boon Fly Cafe is a more casual option for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (featuring homemade, can't-miss doughnuts); and the Hilltop Dining room, perfect for breakfast or lunch, and reserved exclusively for Carneros guests. Beyond the setting, the beauty of The Carneros Inn and their restaurants is that they keep it local: what isn't made or grown directly onsite is sourced from the within the area.
Intimate and low-key romantic, with a setting to match.
A great bar at The FARM Restaurant and also at Boon Fly Cafe, both with a huge selection of local beers and wines. They even make their own bitters for the cocktails.
The Spa at The Carneros Inn is the gorgeous onsite spa, featuring a full array of standard and signature treatments, skincare, beauty, and fitness services.
Families are welcome. The Carneros Inn offers a variety of activities for children, and adjoining cottages with a shared patio make for perfect accommodation.
Just an hour north of San Francisco in Napa's Carneros Valley, and only fifteen minutes from Sonoma. Napa County Airport (APC) is the closest private airstrip, and San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is the closest commercial gateway.
